Wass is approximately 7 miles from the A19 and 16 miles from the A1. A car is recommended to make the most of your stay. There is a bus service between York and Helmsley that passes through Easingwold, Wass and Ampleforth and local taxi services. Some trains stop at Thirsk, but most mainline ones call at York, then Northallerton. There is a frequent service from York to Thirsk , taking only 10 minutes and Thirsk station is a 20 minute drive away.
For those visitors walking the Cleveland Way and wishing to stop off for a short break, transport can be arranged to and from the NYM Visitor Centre at the top of Sutton Bank, along with pick up of luggage from Helmsley and drop off at your next stopover if required. Please ask.
